Smaakroute Smelt: verrassende smaken

Word verrast door de smaken van de omgeving en proef hoe ‘cool’ ze samensmelten tijdens deze smaakroute.

Kun je ijs maken dat smaakt naar het Almeerderstrand in de zomer? Visual storyteller Lotte Ooms onderzoekt bij StrandLAB de seizoenen. Ze werkt daarbij samen met chef-kok Paul Jonker. Lotte zal haar eindonderzoek van het eerste seizoen, de zomer, presenteren tijdens de Veldacademie. Hiervoor neemt ze je mee langs een route door het hele gebied en brengt ze je naar specifieke plekken met een geheel eigenzinnig smaak. De wandeling zal uitmonden in een pop-up zandbouwwerkje waarin je een verkoelende smaaksensatie krijgt gepresenteerd, die haar hele zomeronderzoek wonderbaarlijk doet samensmelten.

Over Lotte Ooms

Met mythevorming en vertellingen maakt Lotte nieuwe verhalen die onze interactie met de natuurlijke omgeving – zowel de gecultiveerde als de ongetemde – bevragen. Lotte is geïnteresseerd in de historische achtergrond van elk materiaal waarmee ze werkt. Ze waardeert oude ambachten en technieken en ze vindt het werken met natuurlijke, gerecyclede en restgrondstoffen erg belangrijk. In haar werk mengen biologie, sociologie en antropologie zich in een tactiele en speelse uitvoering. Ze studeerde in 2021 af aan het designLAB van de Gerrit Rietveld Academie.

Paul Jonker is een onderzoekende chef. Een smaakkenner en natuurliefhebber in hart en nieren. Met een culinaire achtergrond en een nieuwsgierige kijk op de natuurlijke wereld om hem heen, probeert Paul elk ingrediënt puur tot zijn recht te laten komen.

Can you make ice cream that tastes like the Almere beach in summer? Visual storyteller Lotte Ooms investigates the seasons at StrandLAB. She works together with chef Paul Jonker. Lotte will present her final research of the first season ‘De Zomer’ during the Field Academy. For this, she will take you on a route through the entire area, taking you to specific places with a unique flavour. The walk will culminate in a pop-up sand construction in which you will be presented with a refreshing taste sensation that marvellously blends her entire summer research.

 About Lotte Ooms

Through myth and storytelling, Lotte forms new narratives that question our interaction with the natural environment – both cultivated and untamed. Lotte is interested in the historical background of each material she works with. She appreciates old crafts and techniques and she values working with natural, recycled and residual materials. In her work, biology, sociology and anthropology mix in a tactile and playful execution. Lotte graduated from the DesignLAB of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2021.
